About Yabotí Provincial Park

Yabotí Provincial Park is located in the Misiones province of Argentina, bordering Brazil, and covers part of the Upper Paraná Atlantic Forest, one of the most biologically diverse and endangered rainforests in South America. The park encompasses rugged terrain of subtropical rainforest, rivers, waterfalls, and steep hills. Established in 1992, the park serves as a critical habitat for numerous endemic and threatened species, including jaguars, tapirs, and various rare birds. The rich flora includes towering trees, bromeliads, and orchids, showcasing the unique ecological complexity of the Atlantic Forest biome. Visitors to Yabotí can explore its extensive hiking trails that traverse pristine forest, swim beneath waterfalls, and enjoy birdwatching among more than 400 recorded avian species. Additionally, the park plays an important role in transboundary conservation, linking with adjacent protected areas in Brazil to form a larger ecological corridor. Recreational activities such as guided treks, wildlife observation, and river excursions highlight the park's appeal for adventure travelers and naturalists. The absence of extensive infrastructure keeps Yabotí a remote and wild destination, fostering low-impact tourism and conservation awareness. Due to its relative inaccessibility, visitors often combine their visit with expeditions in the neighboring Iguazú National Park or other Misiones reserves. Yabotí Provincial Park is a vital refuge for endangered species and a testament to Argentina’s commitment to preserving its natural heritage within the Atlantic Forest.
